Weightloss with Real-food, UPDATE

For my first official post I wrote about why I chose a REAL-FOOD diet and how it has contributed to me losing 32lbs. You are probably wondering "well, is that sustainable?" I am happy to report...so far, so good! Another couple of weeks and 4 more pounds to add to my weight loss, hip, hip hooray!!! The best part about this is I literally never feel deprived, I rarely crave sweet or salty things and I eat a good amount of food.

In previous attempts at losing weight I have been very successful with other diets, one in particular I lost almost 40lbs. It is the closet thing to a real-food diet I tried, however several key differences, which ultimately led to my demise. The first difference was to cut out all salt...no salty foods, no chips/crackers-a no, no because they are processed,  no cheese-naturally salty, no canned foods, and definitely no added salt to anything. The over simplified science behind eliminating salt is basically to purge your body of any water weight and not take in any extra salt for fear of your body retaining water. The second key difference was absolutely no dairy (no milk, no cheese, no butter, you get the picture). The science behind this...again over simplified, but milk is for babies and the purpose is to nourish a baby (hence the fat content); since we are not babies we have no need for milk. (Stay tuned and I will explain why this nonsense)

As my family and friends can attest to, those two forbidden items were and are my kryptonite. I love my veggies, all kinds, but I love them even more with butter and salt! I love cheese, lots of it, soft, hard, stinky, gooey, etc. and milk, well milk is delicious. Like I said, most of the diet was very similar to real-food, except those two areas and for me they were HUGE. So thankful I discovered real-food because now I understand a different way of looking at my food and I can eat my gigantic serving of veggies with my butter and salt and have a glass of milk to wash it all down!
